ZoneMAX™ is a set of patents, contributed by RDW's core technology team. RDW's exclusive ZoneMAX™ technology utilizes its own dynamic WiMAX+Wi-Fi IC MaxBand, delivers flexibility, stability, strength, and QoS like no other.
ZoneMAX™ complies with WiMAX and Wi-Fi standards. Fully utilizing the similarities between the OFDM building blocks of WiMAX (IEEE 802.16d) and Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11abg) PHY, ZoneMAX™ implements efficient sharing of the scrambler, encoder, interleaver, modulator, FFT, etc. between WiMAX and Wi-Fi. It reduces the module main chip size and passive component counts which substantially lower power consumption and production cost.
ZoneMAX™ is robust to frequency interference. Multi-path fading, co-channel/adjacent channel interference, and noise introduced by RF are major impairments to wireless communications. These impairments affect signal detection and synchronization and thus break down signal property accordingly. ZoneMAXTM‘s unique technology compensates for these impairments using preamble and pilot in a way no other WiMAX solution has done before.
ZoneMAX™ supports a wide spectrum of bandwidth frequencies from 1.25MHz to 28MHz with efficient implementation of the Sample Rate Converter (SRC). A Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) can leverage the most advanced technology, namely Wi-Fi, to reach end users. At the same time, it can take advantage of WiMAX to minimize backhaul cost and efficiently reduce the time for service provisioning. When properly planned and deployed, WiMAX with Wi-Fi can turn the whole region with numerous "Hot Spots" within the geographic boundaries into a "Hot Zone".
